I first met Ann at Mill, since she went to Academy and I started at Forest, then was transitioned to Maple.
You may remember more than I. My memories of that time, and all of our school years, are fragmented and slippery.
Ann was brilliant! She left us to graduate a year early to attend Barnard.
But, she had a difficult life. Her father had died. Her mother raised Ann and her brother as a single mother and the Village librarian. In high school, Ann and I would walk to the candy store to buy delicious dark chocolate peanut clusters, then cross the street to eat them in the library while we did our homework.
We had very spotty communications after graduation. She married, moved out of state, had a child, got a divorce, eventually remarrying, and having two more sons. She seemed much happier at that point.
Her mother had moved from South Forest to a ranch beside the High school with her brother. He continued to live there after their mother died, but he also died young.
When I married in 1983, Ann was one of my attendants. She looked beautiful!
Although we talked on the phone occasionally, I don't think we met again until our last reunion. I have a great picture of us from that evening. She talked of visiting me, but it never happened, unfortunately.
That's very lovely Lola - and you remember a lot! As I remember Ann may have been in quite a few of my classes. I didn't know her super well, but enough to admire her and enjoy having her as a classmate.
It was really nice to see both of you at the reunion.
