I spoke to John when I briefly moved back to Williamsville to care for my mother.

He was in the roofing business at the time, and I called him to look at my roof. He was as funny as I remembered him back in high school.

The Evans twins were famous for their humor.and their enviable athletic skills.

I have of late  reconnected with Tom who I really didn't know that well back in high school but my boyfriend at the time, Bob  Newman, was very good friends with. So I indirectly got to know Tom through Bob.

Tom, if you didn't know, is a published author of several novels that use many references to Williamsville and its history. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading them and encourage anyone reading this to seek them out.  (You can buy them on Amazon)

I can only hope to understand the loss of an only brother, but one who is an identical twin is unfathomable. There are never any right words to say about death.

But maybe Wordsworth comes close, "Death is the quiet haven of us all."

Peace to John.

With deep affection,

Carol Wydra

I would like to make a correction to my original post regarding John and Tom Evans.

They are not identical twins.

Cheers,

I am so sorry to hear news as this truly breaks my heart. First off, Tom, I can not begin to imagine what you must be going through. You and John both have a strong faith in the Lord and I hope that brings some comfort.

John was intelligent, funny and a close friend. We spent a lot of time together in HS and drifted a part about a year after graduation. Funniest story- John would sometimes volunteer to be the cafeteria monitor.

Halloween night we went out to a party somewhere and John painted his face green. With regular paint. Next morning hung over he couldn't get that paint off but did go to work. I thought it was crazy funny but the kids were all a bit nervous and unusual quiet. Mr. Mercer finally walk in and immediatty suggested that John leave which he did completly unphased be the whole thing.

I haven't seen or talked to him in decades but I will miss him and say pray for him.
