In Memory

Elaine J. Wyszkowski (Baxter)

I am not a classmate, but dated Elaine J. Wyszkowski for a number of years. I would like to add some additional information about Elaine which is missing from the information posted about her from the 40th reunion. She was married to James Baxter at the time of her passing, so her name had changed to Elaine Baxter. She passed away on August 1, 1997 at the age of 46 from Advanced Respiratory Distress syndrome (ARDS). She was living in Kentucky at the time of her death, but is buried in Western New York. There is not an electronic link to her death notice; you have to go to the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library and look at the August 5, 1997 issue of the Buffalo Evening News on microfiche (the News' electronic records only go back to September 1997). In addition to the words written about Elaine by Linda John, Elaine had a wonderful personality, a beautiful smile, wonderful eyes, and was the type of person you just wanted to hang around with.

This gal was so smart! She solved calculus problems without even really trying. And, she had a big, beautiful smile. She was also an excellent athlete. I remember seeing her hit that ball in the tennis court and calculate where the return bounce would be before the girl on the other side hit it. She was also one that got picked early to be on a softball team in phys ed. I was impressed with and admired Elaine Wyszkowski.
